It has been a while since I last posted on this blog. In fact 3 years, almost.
Just to update the masses who follow this blog, heh, I've kept my CPL current and even got myself converted onto a few other aircraft.
I recently did a conversion onto a C72R - Its a Cessna 172 RG ( Retractable Gear ). The idea behind the conversion was to use the aircraft to do a CPL Renewal test. Apparently, every alternate year one has to do a renewal in an aircraft and the other in a simulator. There are varying opinions out there about that, but that's what my Designated Flight Examiner (who is a South African Airways Captain) tells me.
The C72R is an interesting plane to fly, not particularly fast when compared to a C210 and a bit of a dog when you need power to climb away. Nonetheless its a good trainer and I am sure it is used quite a fair amount for conversions to retractable gear training.
No pics to post but the registration I flew was ZS-PRF (Papa Romeo Foxtrot).
My next desirable conversion is to a South African built aircraft known as a SLING. Can't wait. I will post more pics when I do that one.
For now, enjoy this video my dad shot from the right seat. The Video title says it all.
