Close to 4 Years without a single post.

Oh My.

What you have done oh Facebook and Instagram.

Would you believe it.

I'm surprised I even remembered this blog. Glad I found it though. How things have changed in my Aviation Career.

C72R rating, CPL, IFR Renewal Done - 2014

It has been a while since I last posted on this blog.  In fact 3 years, almost.

Just to update the masses who follow this blog, heh, I've kept my CPL current and even got myself converted onto a few other aircraft.

I recently did a conversion onto a C72R - Its a Cessna 172 RG ( Retractable Gear ). The idea behind the conversion was to use the aircraft to do a CPL Renewal test. Apparently, every alternate year one has to do a renewal in an aircraft and the other in a simulator. There are varying opinions out there about that, but that's what my Designated Flight Examiner (who is a South African Airways Captain) tells me.

The C72R is an interesting plane to fly, not particularly fast when compared to a C210 and a bit of a dog when you need power to climb away. Nonetheless its a good trainer and I am sure it is used quite a fair amount for conversions to retractable gear training.

No pics to post but the registration I flew was ZS-PRF (Papa Romeo Foxtrot).

My next desirable conversion is to a South African built aircraft known as a SLING. Can't wait. I will post more pics when I do that one.

For now, enjoy this video my dad shot from the right seat. The Video title says it all.

C210 rating, CPL, IFR Renewal Done - 2012

I did a conversion and a renewal on a Cessna C210 the other day, ZS-MVG. A beautiful machine to fly. Quick as a rocket and has a MAUW(Max All Up Weight) of 1.7Tonnes = Impressive. Its the heaviest aerie I have flown to date.

After the first year of holding a commercial pilots license, one has to do a renewal test, a similar flight test to the one done to get the Commercial Pilots License. Imagine having to take your driving license test every single year. Its almost the same, but a bit more complex and with an examiner guy who is a SAA(South African Airways) 737-800 Captain checking your every move, waiting to point out each and every little error you make.

In the end, it was a good test - and Captain Examiner was rather fair/forgiving. So, I am signed out again for another year to go flying on a Commercial Pilot Certificate.

Happy Days.

This blog entry kept me occupied for a good 4-5hrs. The author called it "Heart of Darkness". I felt all sorts of emotions whilst going through all 15 pages.. It also made me want to get out there and do some touring.

Tooth Removed.

You never expect to be missing a tooth 20mins later after walking into the dentist to ask why you have a sharp pain at the back of your mouth.

Happened to me today.  My mouth is all numb and swollen thanks to the anesthetic.
Lord, why did you give us the furthest-back wisdom teeth?
- They hurt plenty when they are growing
- We hardly use them for chewing and
- They are just un-reachable when brushing, especially to the cheek side which is where mine was shunted..

Only he knows.

a Very powerful verse

Romans 8:6 - For to set the mind on the flesh is death, but to set the mind on the Spirit is life and peace.

As the wife of my youth always says, the battle is spiritual not physical. It cannot be seen or felt by the fleshy parts of our skin.
